I have a slight love of anything french, so when I saw this fabric and later learned that it was a french designer by the name the Manual Canovas was I surprised?..no...delighted YES then I looked at the price it said 142 euros, to be honest I have no idea the current conversion rate but I think that means like expensive in US dollars, so just kidding right? Maybe I should go on deal or no deal and try to win some money cause....otherwise I'll dream on. Ahhh, how I have dreamed and dreamed of becoming a textile designer.... some day, it's just something about patterns and florals that really get me excited, this being half the reason I love interior design as much as I do is do to great textiles! Hurray for good design, good french design

The Wedding is Over

And unfortunately today it feels as though I am over too, when all was said and done with my sister's wedding and my family went home I am stuck in bed for days exhausted and sick from all the pre-wedding/during wedding/and post wedding activities! Hosting is no easy job for two weeks! My house is a disaster and I feel drained with no energy to do anything about it (hence I am forced to live in a disaster while already feeling like a disaster) boo...........boo to sickness, boo to stress, boo to cluttered spaces...i will find my way through this in one piece though, rest assured.

ORANGE CHOCOLATE MINI CUPCAKES

1 Box Chocolate Cake Mix
Replace Water with Orange Juice
Replace Oil with Grape Seed Oil
1/2 Orange Zested
Follow box directions with the added and replaced ingredients. For parchment cupcake papers cut 3 1/4” squares and squish down into cupcake pan.

ORANGE ZEST ICING
4 Cups Powdered Sugar
8 Tablespoons Butter, Softened
3 Tablespoons Orange Juice (add more juice if needed)
1 Orange Zested
Mix all the ingredients until smooth. Use a round piping tip to pipe the icing. Zest an additional orange for to garnish and sprinkle a little sugar on top.

I must admit I am rather fond of anything that has to do with skin, and am always on the look out for the new "latest and greatest" in skin care products/gadgets, well I just found one of my new favorite tools for washing my face it is the Loreal 360 Cleanser that comes with a little diddy called a Scrublet, which is pure bliss and makes your skin feel so soft and wonderful! I think I spent like 10 minutes washing my face because I didn't want it to end, seriously, and for the price of like six bucks, AH steal. Funny story too because I wasn't even aware this existed until a very amazing person came around passing out a flyer for this thing, and I was intrigued so I thought I would go check it out...long story short YOU NEED ONE OF THESE, it is the Bomb. Go! Go! Go! Hurry and get one you won't be sorry!

Oh my goodness I'm so in love with these cute little frames. A while back my brother in law introduced me to a amazing clothing store called Zara, and indeed the clothes are rather fabulous and he is always dressed to impress when he wears their attire but listen to this, I just found out that there is a Zara Home, who knew! I'm so happy! Design makes me more happy than clothes I think, sorry Ike but I think I love Zara Home now more than Zara! Aren't these little frames A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E, I want them so bad! So, here's the deal I know I'm sucking at posting right now but I have a progress update, this poster is one of my favs and there were only a select few to be produced, so I snatched one right up and it has been sitting unframed for over a year needed some love. So, progress people yes yours truly has finally decided to frame this bad boy and it turned out so beautifully that I want to put it on all the walls of my house, no really but I can't DECIDE, hello dilemma, don't wanna make a wrong decision now do I this is a HUGE deal I mean life or death because I really need a design pick me up at this point and something to go right before my parents see my disaster of a home and the credibility of my ability to design is destroyed. On a second note with design it's in the wrong that you learn the right and a certain amount of mistakes will actually make you a better designer in the end, and then there's the times when you accidentally make something look fabulous without trying and those are the best days!!! Love those days, but anyhooo now that I have gone off on this long tangent, I love my poster and I think I will FOR LIKE EVER!

Last night my husband and I had a party with a few friends and we watched the above movie Coraline we got all cosy on the couch with blankets and hot tea dimmed the lights and embarked on a real adventure in front of our giant flat screen tv, it was better than the movies I tell ya, oh and the movie absolutely great I loved it, although there were times in the movie it got beyond bizarre it was intensely creative none the less and I was loving it. Did I mentioned that we watched it in 3-D? Yeah, we did, we totally nerded out on the couch with those ridiculous looking things on our heads and it was a beautiful thing ladies and gentlemen 3-D is the way to go when watching this movie! I will be adding this to my collection of the beloved dvd collection soon, check it out for your self, especially if you have a creative mind beyond imagination you will love it!!!

This has to be my all time favorite picture from Domino magazine, this describes me perfectly in an alice and wonderland kind of way, which by the way the reason I chose the name of my blog to be e & design wonderland is because I am quite fond of the movie and I love the out of the box imagination of things in the movie and I like to apply that to design like re-purposing things for a one of a kind use that really will really show case the personality of the object rather than fit the normal expectation of the object. My decorating style is a lot bit whimsical mixed with classic and relaxed plus a whole lot of detail and many points of interest otherwise I just get bored. To me this photo has a alice in wonderland relaxed go with the flow feel to it that I just love.

Little White Tree

Found this little cutie and can't wait to make one myself I have a slight obsession with white trees even wooden ones apparently. This is a golden Christmas opportunity so grab some dowel rods cut them slightly larger and taper towards the top also criss crossing them to form a cross hot glue them in the center and just stack alternating every which a way and voila! Oh and don't forget to paint them white and let them completely dry first..wink ;) happy tree creating, below I have finally put my tree up despite my crazy hectic lifestyle..running a business, keeping house,buying Christmas presents which as you can see below I am currently failing at, but don't you worry they will be there Santa is coming to town real soon and he will save me.

My little daily delight of a Christmas tree, my poor husband... and his overly feminine wife makes him suffer yet another year with the white tree adorned with gold bows & pink and silver antique ornaments, ahhh the joy it brings to my life, this is a picture of me below after I saw it lit for the first time. Two words NEW MOON. For those of you who saw it last night and sat in a line in the freezing cold for two and half hours before show time, hello, so worth it. Last night was rather an eventful evening while standing in line I had my Starbucks peppermint hot chocolate in one hand and a faithful rice crispy in the other and after fifteen minutes they were both frozen and no good at that point so I decided to be-friend some girls standing next to me and they challenged me to a game of yahtzee while we listened to tunes from back in the day...shameful as this is to admit we listened to a little Mmbop yes we did and it was fabulous sitting in the parking lot on the freezing cold ground (next time there will be a blanket involved in this) for hours while we anticipated and mind you, sacrificed being in the warm!.......Well?.... was it worth it I THINK SO YES, funny as it is I'm not even one of the real Twilight fanatics but because there were so many that were I was forced to get my butt out there and freeze too! And so glad I did by the way...

PS-I love you husband you are better than Edward for standing by my side the whole time!

Check out this Craigslist find turned chalkboard, the frame was gold and dull but with a fresh coat of white paint it has to be one of the cutest chalkboards I've ever seen... I must go on a search myself now I have to have one of these in my house. Nothing like another diy project gone fabulous! Photography 101: The Challenge

I'm afraid it's time...time to read this baby from front to cover and learn anything and everything I can about the amazing surprise gift that my husband got me last year! While shopping I was in line returning some goods and my husband said that he would switch on and off in the line with me because it was so long because we were going to have to be there for like an hour, meanwhile I'm standing in line and I'm looking around he is no where to be found and by this point I'm starting to get upset that he isn't keeping his end of the bargain and just when I thought I was going to have to leave this line and go find him he came up behind me with a bag and said I have a surprise for you...anyway long story short he said I couldn't look until we got home and I was stunned when I did, there in that bag was the most precious gift anyone could have given me, a Nikon D40 camera.....one little device that could encompass so many of my life passions all in one (being in nature, design, capturing priceless moments, creativity, and so on) anyways so you get the point but now the time has arrived for me to take the plunge, and so the challenge is on I will read this from front to back, no excuses, and guess what after I'm done I am so going to need practice so take hold you photo loving people and come be my guinea pigs so I can get good at this!

Smokey Eyes For Blondes

This girl gets it just right everytime. Use the steps below for the same effect just using lighter colors more in the gold brown range. Also, use the liner in a darker brown color a little darker on the outer corners like she does above

(< >) kind of like half triangle parenthesis, then use the a lighter shadow the rest of the way underneath the eye.

Smokey Eyes

Today I'm reminiscent of the days when I used to work for the makeup company Stila. So I thought what would be better then to share with you some insider tips on the classic smokey eye (although I prefer a more subtle smokey eye) (like this one pictured above) using dark browns and greys instead of that sometimes harsh all black look. So here is the step by step I got when I flew out to LA for an exclusive Stila makeup training.

#1- Apply concealer to the eyelid to keep the shadow in place

#2- Apply a loose powder to underneath the eye for any stray shadow to fall (this makes for an easy way to sweep it away when your all done)

Tip* If you have small eyes you really should stay away from black it will only make them appear even smaller.

#3- Line the lash line filling in the spaces between the hairs (avoid a thick line keep it thin and close to the lashes) choosing a color that is brown or grey will be more flattering on most people.

#4-Choose an eyeshadow with three similar shades going from light, to med, to dark.

Tip* When applying the shadow use an eyeshadow brush that is rounded at the top and instead of sweeping the shadow start with the lightest color and press the shadow into the lid.

#5-Start with the lightest color at the lash line and blend pressing the shadow (instead of sweeping) over the eyeliner line and moving up.

#6- Repeat with the medium color above the light and then the darkest color above the medium continuing to press and pack onto the lid. (Make sure you keep the color on the lid only with all three colors making sure not to go into the crease.)

#7-Use a small thin brush to apply the darkest color to the outer corner of the eye and blend.

#8-Apply mascara sweeping the lashes outward toward the outer corner of the eye instead of straight up this gives a lifted look to the eye and makes the eye appear more almond shape.

#9-Sweep away loose powder under the eye with a powder brush.

#10-Lining the inner bottom of the eye is an option the most flattering is when you line the bottom with the shadow for a softer line and then blend.

So that's it your all done! Ready to enjoy a night on the town now?

I can't believe it is only 24 days until I become 26! I have no shortage of ideas for what I want for my birthday though...sad huh, I just love so many things and to me "things" are experiences and experiences are what is most important anyway right? So here is one of the things I have my eye on is called "count me healthy jewerly" and it's a bracelet that counts your health goals or whatever goals you want it to count with these small beads that slide from side to side, easy peesy just slide a bead over when you accomplish one of the goals throughout your day. They really have made it easier than ever to keep track of how many glasses of water you are drinking a day or kicking a Dr. Pepper habit (which by the way I need to do)...word has it that this bracelet was featured at this years Grammy Awards as well, so apparently now I really have to have one! Ryan if your reading this I've done the hard work for you honey.

A Un-traditional Halloween

I'm getting into the Halloween spirit at the last minute this year! I decided to forgo the usual carving pumpkins and all the black/orange festivities and instead I planned a Halloween vacation, yes you heard right I said vacation, which is well needed and well deserved! So here's the plans...take a drive to the beautiful St. George, stay in the nicest hotel I can find and go to bed (because it will be too late to do anything)! Wake up, visit one of my husband and I's favorite breakfast places in town and chill in the wonderful 70 degree weather all day sipping pina coladas by the pool, celebrate Halloween night by driving up to see the show "Thriller" at Tuacahn, then come back and relax from all the fun! Happy Halloween Vacation to us! Happy Halloween to you :)

My Design For Glade

I am so excited to share with you this scented oil candle tin I designed for Glade! This tin is the clean linen scent, so I tried to envision something fun with clean crisp colors that would make me think of fresh clean linens and this is what I came up with. I have also been working on a couple of designs for Coca-Cola's 2010 summer collector can series as well that I will try to post. I appreciate comments so share what you think I'd love to hear from you......

An Attitude of Gratitude

The past few weeks have been crazy in my world! But, today I had some pretty big break throughs when it comes to doing business and I am very happy with the progress that I have made. I am also very grateful for all that I have and the experiences I am fortunate enough to take part in. So cheers to a productive life in all the ups and the downs! This photo is a perfect reflection of the mood I am in right now, happy and upbeat and extremely thankful if I had this at my house today I would take a few minutes to relax and finish reading Eclipse, ya, I know, I'm just now only reading the third book...{im over it} great book by the way don't know how it will play out in the end but New Moon is my favorite so far......(pic found via absolutelybeautifulthings)

This is the new divas poster painted by Maximilian Wiedemann for the vh1's ad campaign which by the way I am in heart with and Adele which is what I call music perfection, she's pretty much one of my favorite artists in a close second to Nelly Furtado, whats more to love art and music combined equals heaven. Oh how I wish that this was my work space today..with all the stresses of running a business sometimes your life can feel cluttered and unorganized but not in this picture I could see myself feeling as calm as a summer breeze. Found via House of Turqoise.

Don't you just love the look of these different shapes it creates such definition almost architectural, I just love the back drop on the walls the grey really pops and you can't forget the detail of yellow on the lanterns..these are some of my favorite colors infact I painted the ceiling of my bedroom this seafoam blue green color and it makes me happy everytime I look up when I'm falling asleep. Ryan's Birthday Cakes

Isn't this little creation so pretty? Thanks to my sister I have a picture to show for it. It's so easy to make too, I made these little cakes for Ryan's birthday and they were a hit...don't I look like a gourmet chef! It's called fake it before you make it everyone knows I don't cook, but I was quite proud of how these little things turned out. Find the recipe below, according to everyone at the party they said they tasted equally as good as they look:

1 box of angel foodcake (use the recipe on the side of the box for cupcakes)

strawberries or other berries

whipped cream can or homemade

toasted coconut

Mix angel food cake mix with water it calls for on box (follow directions on box) then pour about 2/3 of mix into muffin tins. Bake at time it calls for on box. Toast coconut flakes on 350 degrees until golden brown stirring constantly to get all sides golden. Garnish cakes with strawberries, then whipped cream, then sprinkle on top toasted coconut and whaalaa your a professional its that easy!!

Something about this picture makes me so happy! I guess it could be the fact that the girl looks happy..or maybe it's the beautiful flowers in the vase..normally I don't get this excited about spring colors but this year something has changed I've decided to embrace the inevitable... and plus I actually like this combination it makes me feel... alive and invigorated.

I finally feel like there's hope after Domino for the first time today! And yes I was one of those of the "Domino obsessed" people and now I need a new addiction..which by the way I think I've found!!! Introducing Real Living Mag! Only prob here is for those of us that live in the US it's a little more expensive being that the mag is from Australia, no big deal right? Just goes to show that when you are design obsessed like me you will go to great lengths....so.....i did...i took the plunge and ordered a subscription...whats the harm in a little "australian" magazine indulgence here and there....?

Photo perfection people, see it once remember it forever. This is what the up & coming photographer Chrissie White does she creates photos that are so appealing that once you see them you fall in love and instantly grab your camera and run for the door so inspired. I particularly like the lighting and vintage feel she has to her shots as well as the scenes she shoots, this one is just plain brilliant!

Honestly people my obsession for black&white is out of control I never knew I could love something so much as it shows up in my pillows, my walls, my chandelier, my tile floors, it's in tons of my accessories and ok, it's pretty much ridiculous. I don't know how to stop the insanity...I swear it sucks me in everytime!
